Lawrence township high school nj3/1/2024 Pluta doesn’t have children attending the high school but said the district must do more to ensure everyone remains safe on campus. “It’s horrible,” said Robert Pluta, a township board member-elect who takes his seat in January. Grief counselors were available to students wanting to discuss the scary incident that left parents and school leaders on edge. Kevin Van Hise, the Lawrence Township school board president, didn’t respond to a phone call seeking comment on the incident. Students remained in first-period classes under a shelter-in-place until officials determined there was no longer a threat. “Any student caught with a weapon will be referred to law enforcement and punished accordingly.” Weapons of any kind are not permitted on or near school property,” township school chief Ross Kasun wrote in a letter to parents. “The safety and security of our students and staff will always be our top priority.
